Onassis Diamond Necklace

An Onassis diamond necklace featuring what Christie’s described as a "potentially flawless" 38-carat diamond of the purist 'D' color, sold for £3.6 million at a record-breaking jewelry sale that included 44 jewels belonging to Christina's daughter Athina Onassis. The necklace was expected to generate between £1.8 million and £2.2 million.
A gem-studded Faberg. "Bhudda" - an ornament from Aristotle Onassis's yacht - sold for almost £1.3 million, tripling its £350,000 estimate.
Onassis’ jewels sold for a total of £6.8 million at Christie's in London.
In all, the jewelry sale containing 230 lots generated £15 million, setting a UK record for that type of auction. It had been expected to raise £8 million.
